Update 23 Feb 08
I've been busy fitting the dash to my car, as well as the HVAC unit. In doing this I cut out the firewall sections of the 04 Mustang and welded them into my car for the HVAC and the steering column. This seems the best way to get it to look right to me. This is a huge project and I have no idea how many hours I have into this. I suspect its near 80 hours total so far. But...I think it is worth it.
Below you can see that I was able to keep the defrost ducts. Very important to me as I want this car to be able to be driven anywhere anytime. Its close but they are intact
Below you can get a feel for how much of the dash needs to be cut.
Below is the firewall with the new sections welded in. I don't see how this swap could be done with out a donor car to use. Fabricating these areas would be time consuming!
Next up is the trans tunnel. The 04 has a raised area that the 82 doesn't have. Its spot welded to the 04 so I'll drill it off and spot weld it in my car. After that its time to tackle the rear seat.
